Celebration celebrates the work of 28 contemporary London artists, many of whom live and work in the are around the gallery in Fish Island and Hackney Wick. The exhibition showcases ten different art forms including; photography, ceramics, animation, decoupage, installation, sculpture, mosaic and painting, based on the theme of what it means to celebrate. With inspiration drawn from the local landscape and the departure of the Olympic circus, the exhibition explores what it means to celebrate, the aftermath of celebration and the variety of ways people celebrate across different cultures.
This exhibition has become a celebration in itself with the sheer variety of artists of eclectic backgrounds using a myriad of art forms. All of this is set in the beautiful gallery with inspiring views of the Olympic Stadium and Regents Canal. This is current epicentre of the contemporary art world flourishing in this previously unused area of east London.
