Unpaid Rising Stars: Call for artists and makers

More details: Outi Remes (Anywhere)

The New Ashgate Gallery is a highly regarded, regionally recognised, contemporary Fine Art and Craft gallery located in an attractive market town. Operating since 1959, The New Ashgate is a charitable trust with a contemporary selling gallery at the heart of its activities and fundraising.

... What we do
As an educational trust, a non-for-profit organisation, we are focused on the cultivation of the fine
and applied arts. We stage exhibitions which showcase emerging artists and makers on a similar
platform to more established exhibitors; we promote the handmade object and creative expression
via the delivery of seminars, workshops and lectures. We offer volunteer and work experience
opportunities for students and graduates, building skills and confidence in those with a passion for
working in the arts.

The gallery holds exhibitions of painting, printmaking, sculpture, metal, furniture, silverware, ceramics, jewellery, glass and textiles. The gallery also sells books, magazines, art cards and gift vouchers as well as providing the Own Art loan scheme.

About Rising Stars:
Supported by the Billmeir Charitable Trust, Rising Stars is our annual exhibition and education programme which specifically supports Fine Art and Craft students, recent graduates and emerging artists and makers.
The Rising Stars programme is held in April each year. Selected work will be required to be delivered to the gallery by the end of March 2012.

"Fantastic and unique opportunity…. Really helps new graduates gain an insight into how to exhibit their work in galleries. How to apply, how to present the work, how to deal with admin and product codes, and how to package work for delivery. Would recommend to anybody, so worthwhile. It also helps get your work into other galleries having a previous
gallery exhibition on your cv!" - Exhibitor 2011

How to Apply:
Please apply via email or post and include:
Cover Letter (no more than 1 side A4)
Statement (no more than 1 side A4)
CV
Up to 6 images of your work (Please ensure the images are 300dpi but each image no more than 1mb in size, including title, size & media)
