On reading about a London Grand Prix (again)

Really? Will F1 roars rock Regent Street?

Ferrari charging by the Thames and up the Strand?

The plans for London’s GP aren’t concrete,

But the idea’s not completely banned.

The papers say that one day it might be

I’ll believe it when Piccadilly’s armco-ed off,

Grandstands sit on The Mall for us to see

and vans in the parks sell beer for fans to quaff.

A London Grand Prix would be a great event,

the West End shut for cars to hurtle past.

but the chance is a very small percent –

I doubt we’ll soon be seeing McLaren, Bulls or Haas

rocketing their way down Oxford Street.

Instead of cars shops want their shoppers’ feet.
