Beating the Bomb – indie, grassroots documentary: View now!

Beating the Bomb is an independent, grassroots documentary made on a micro, micro budget. It is about war and peace, foreign policy, nuclear weapons and the fight against them. It is a historical documentary, charting ‘The Bomb’ from 1941 to present day and has already been screened in over 15 festivals worldwide.

The mainstream media is once again beating the war drum, amplifying the same old nuclear threat excuse given by the vested interests. This one sided, status quo reporting is partly responsible for the recent war in Iraq and may be responsible for another in Iran. ‘Beating the Bomb’ attempts to counteract this and to bring into focus the broader context within which the nuclear issue should be viewed.

The fight for a nuclear free world and a sustainable system is on. A more ecologically sustainable, less consumer driven, less exploited world is a dream shared by billions. So why are trillions being wasted to prop up the unsustainable status quo? In a world where 800 million don’t have access to safe drinking water – will they get their water before we spend trillions more building more weapons in the name of ‘security’, creating jobs and economic growth’?

Beating the Bomb is a labour of love as well as a piece of activism; it is a call to action and also a tribute to peace campaigners around the world. It features Tony BennMark ThomasNaomi KleinGeorge Monbiot, Kate Hudson, Helen John and Vivienne Westwood amongst others.
