Corinne Bailey Rae has revealed a second song, the sensual ‘Green Aphrodisiac’, taken from her forthcoming album The Heart Speaks In Whispers. ‘Green Aphrodisiac’ was written by Corinne with Paris and Amber Strother from the LA-based future-soul band KING, and features musical contributions from Paris Strother, Esperanza Spalding and Miles Davis-bassist Marcus Miller. It is available to download now, with pre-orders of the new album.
“This song is inspired by intoxicating spring days lying in the grass in the afternoon, blossom and sunlight,” says Corinne. “The same thing that grows in the garden flows in me in you. Hope you get lost in it!”
‘Green Aphrodisiac’ follows Corinne’s return last month with ‘Been To The Moon’, which has been greeted with huge acclaim and affection on both sides of the Atlantic. With breathless commentary on the song from influential tastemaker sites and radio play around the world – including BBC Radio 2’s Jo Whiley who proclaimed, “This year sees the return, thankfully, finally of Corinne Bailey Rae; what a voice!” – it’s no surprise that Corinne’s first headline show for more than five years, at The Tabernacle, West London on April 7th, sold out in less than 60 minutes.
