Somerset House is the location for London’s newest art fair. Over 70 galleries from around the world are participating in the first Photo London, on until 24th May. There is a full range of images available, from rare historic prints to new contemporary talent. As well as commercial galleries there are five exhibitions, including work from the V&A and a large lightbox installation – The Teaser – in the courtyard.
What’s underneath?! You’ll have to visit to see an early Fox Talbot image at James Hyman Photography
Highlights? Look out for Mitch Epstein’s 2012 series of trees in NYC and Trevor Paglan’s Untitled (Predator Drones), both at Thomas Zander. Atlas gallery has a stunning 2007 Elephant Drinking by Nick Brandt, whilst Enoc Perez works in collage at Danziger Gallery. There are a few of Bill Brandt’s closeup nudes around the show but also look out for the bright textural observational portraits by Eamonn Doyle at Michel Hoppen gallery.
