Lago di Puccini is a nature reserve eleven miles from Lucca where Giacomo Puccini lived. He chose the lake as a home so that he could shoot its other inhabitants. Now however the lake is a quiet oasis and no matter how many statues there are of the composer he would no longer be welcome gun in hand.
Every year there is a music festival celebrating the operas of the local hero Giacomo Puccini.
Boat trips can be taken on the lake.
There is Puccini museum, but even so the lakeside retains a quiet charm.
A great site for a watching wildlife.
