Out now: the new summer-infused track from @TheAbstractsUK

Remember summer for a bit longer…

Summer’s gone for another year, but a new track released this week should help you remember it a bit longer. Smells like Summer is the new single from Cambridge indie band The Abstracts. It’s about being with someone who makes it feel like summer all year round. Maybe the seasons are just a state of mind? Raw, gravelly vocals from Felix Morgan, with a touch of Joe Strummer and some smiley guitar licks – though the lyrical ending deliberately leaves you wanting more.

Smells like

The Abstracts formed in 2007, then re-emerged in 2013 after a brief hiatus with a new line up, consisting of original members Felix Morgan (Lead vox/guitar), Ben Nunn (Bass/B.vox), Mark Thomson (Drums) and the addition of Ben Taylor (Guitar/B.vox).

They have been nominated for best local Indie band, along with having 2 tracks in Cambridge 105’s Unsigned Chart for the maximum of 20 weeks. They’ve also been on TV, on a BBC Introducing Session and performed a sold-out show on the main stage of The Cambridge Junction

Here’s their live Youtube playlist.
