From London, Fresh Dixie are an exciting up and coming cross-over jazz act. Their sound fuses elements of jazz, pop and soul which, coupled with their impressive musicianship and electrifying improvised solos, forges a live show that is rapidly gaining a strong reputation for its energy and infectiousness.
The boys met at university and after getting tired of playing jazz standards, decided to start writing original material. At this point they began to draw on the incredibly diverse musical tastes and influences within the band and realised their full crossover potential.
After building a local following that has expanded throughout the UK and into parts of Europe, the band have played a string of prestigious festivals and venues including Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, WOMAD Festival and Cheltenham Jazz Festivals.
Fresh Dixie have a dynamic debut EP due for release early next year of which their opening gambit is a beautifully plaintive yet seductive rendition of MGMT’s super smash ‘Electric Feel‘, which gives an insight into the power these young musicians have to offer.
