Prints, sculptures and whisky editions at vibrant Multiplied Art Fair @Multiplied_Fair

I’ve never had a whisky tasting at an art exhibition before but amongst the prints and objects at the Multiplied Art Fair McLean’s Artists Malts are pushing the boundaries of what an edition can be. Held at Christies in South Kensington Multiplied is the premier editions fair in London and a chance to see the best prints and objects from around the world in one place.

Current art world stars on show include Damien Hirst, Gary Hume, Sarah Lucas and Gavin Turk, but if you are looking for something more distinctive and less cheque-booky you can spot the names of the future in a section showcasing emerging talent from the Slade, RCA and the University of the Arts.

Multiplied Top Five

1. Amongst the large Hirst sculptures Paul Stolper has a small ring by Mike Chavez Dawson. Instead of a diamond or other precious stone it boasts a miniature Duchampian urinal.

2. For Multiplied 2014 McLean’s Artist Malts have launched works by Cornelia Parker and Ben Rivers, together with a 17 year old single malt distilled at Benrinnes distillery. Each work includes one of only 35 bottles of whisky.

3. Andipa Gallery is showing a solo show of London artist Slinkachu. His miniature figures are involved in the daily dramas of life – all displayed with a close up and a wider shot giving the context of the image.

4. Alteria Arts have a series of copper plate etchings by artists including Mat Collishaw and Rachel Howard. These ten established and emerging artists have all based their work on the human body, giving ten entirely different pieces of work that are available as a box set or individually.

5. The Multiple Store has a wide selection of 3D works by contemporary artists. A good place for new collectors to start out.

Multiplied is not all commercial sales. The Whitechapel Gallery and Parasol Unit are represented and there are also two charities with booths. Create London is raffling a signed print by Marcus Coates to raise money for the work they do to contribute to deprived communities in East London.  Vital Arts raises money for Barts Health and other charities chosen by artists who have donated the prints for sale.

With over 40 galleries represented there is a large choice for collectors to choose from. There is also an events programme featuring high profile artists including Peter Blake (in conversation with Alistair Sooke on Saturday 12-1pm). On-site printing sessions- including 3D printing –  will also take place, with artists making prints in front of a live audience. This is the fifth instalment of Multiplied and gives an overview of the affordable and vibrant art being made at the moment.
