Fancy having an original sketch by Johnny Vegas on your wall? Or one by Rowan Williams or Miranda Hart? Maybe your tastes tend more towards an original Quentin Blake? Or a drawing by Marcus Brigstocke or Alan Davies or…over twenty celebrities have donated sketches to raise money for a Hay-on-Wye school and you can bid on them until Friday 18th October 2013.
All the best, The Etherington Brothers, 2013
What is these people’s interest in Hay-on-Wye? Do they all send their children to school in a small town on the English/Welsh border? Why have they devoted their artistic talents to creating masterpieces for you to decorate your walls? Why do they want to raise money to help a small school in Hay?
Hay-on-Wye is a cultured town. It attracts the bohemian reaches of society. It has an annual festival about which you may have heard. If you haven’t it’s called the Hay Festival, which is one of those names that does its job perfectly. It’s in Hay. And it’s a festival. This year when the famous were assembled in marquees discussing literature, reading Shelley and signing books many of them drew a picture to help raise money for the local primary school. Some showed great prowess in their handling of the pen. Others didn’t. But now all the pictures are being auctioned to raise money.
Thanks for the sparkly starlight, Jonny Duddle, 2013
The full list of celebrities that have donated sketches includes: Cerys Matthews, Miranda Hart, Johnny Vegas, Quentin Blake, AC Grayling, Marcus Brigstocke, Cath Kidston, Claudia Winkleman, Michael Morpurgo, Lee Mack, The Etherington Brothers, Alan Davis, Damian Lewis, Robert Lindsay, Marcus Alexander, Chris Ridell, Rowan Williams, Anthony Browne, Johnny Duddle, Kevin Crossley-Holland, John Whaite and the Baker Brothers and Lily Cole.
If you see any of these people please smile at them – they’ve had quite difficult lives, Marcus Brigstocke
If you want more than a sketch then Kevin Crossley-Holland has donated the original painting for his latest book Arthur: The Seeing Stone, a historical novel for children set in the Welsh Marches.

Heya! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any problems with hackers? My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing many months of hard work due to no data backup. Do you have any methods to protect against hackers?
