James Mylne has been creating artworks using BIC biros for 15 years and is considered to be one of the world leaders in this style of art. Having graduated from Camberwell College of Arts with an MA, James went on to pioneer BIC biro drawing and is now regularly studied by students keen to emulate his style.
The use of BIC biro as Mylne’s primary medium appealed to him due to the huge level of concentration required to complete each drawing, with works often taking hundreds of hours to complete. Mistakes cannot be rectified and any errors result in the work being destroyed and James beginning the intricate process from the start.
This exhibition however has a more feminine edge and a focus on the elegant and sophisticated images often associated with the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s female style icons such as Audrey Hepburn and Everyln Tripp.
‘Vintage Vogue’ opens to the public on October 5th through to October 31st.
