Harp sounds and robust baroque echoes led the dance of Ceremonials, the latest Florence + The Machine’s album, a much more mature, introspective, refined version of Lungs, her first work.
A solemn, elegant and well structured record, supported by dark lyrics and the ethereal, hurtling and emotional Welch’s vocal power; “Ceremonials” spreads hope and magic by using an eclectic and retro style.
The arrangements are perfectly layered, immaculate and seem to resemble the sounds of nature. Tribal drums sound like waterfalls and melodies that softly flow like creeks.
“Shake It Out”, the first single, is a hymn to life’s difficulties, to the need of keep going forward by transforming past issues into strength for the present and future .
“Ceremonial” is breathtaking and its soaring and Gothic tracks will leave you astounded.
