New Music: synthpop duo Celebrine release new single ‘Cellar Door’?

Art synth alt pop with added shimmer

Russian duo Celebrine and Alien Delon release their much anticipated debut album ‘Happy Tears’ on the 8th December via NON Records.

Bringing the sound of modern Russia to the rest of the world, Celebrine are unconcerned with conventions and clichés of modern music. After three years working together, Celebrine and collaborator Alien Delon have produced an impeccable alternative pop record with ‘Happy Tears’. Ten tracks of gothic synth pop; arpeggiating keys, modified guitars and layers of emotive reverb-drenched vocals make it an accomplished debut.NewImage
Celebrine have combined the strongest elements of some of alternative pop’s great trendsetters: take the atmospheric stylings of Zola Jesus, mix it with Cocteau Twins-esque instrumentation and then throw in the sheer confidence and hook-crafting mastery of Charli XCX and you come close to describing just how accomplished they are as a musical group.

‘Cellar Door’ is a piece of pop perfection. An anthemic track which soars through the emotions, its sublime combination of shimmering guitar and powerful vocal emotion paves the way for an incredibly satisfying chorus build and release. It is said that ‘cellar door’ is the most beautiful sounding phrase in the English language and was Edgar Allen Poe’s favourite expression – and Celebrine have created a song of equal beauty.
