For centuries we’ve been jumping in a car, train or post-chaise and heading to Italy for a Grand Tour of art and culture. But now the boffins at Visit Scotland have put together a Grand Tour of Porridge, where you can eat the stuff morning, noon and night. Not as culturally stimulating perhaps, but for the porridge aficionado (of which there are more than you might imagine) a moment for celebration. Humble porridge has been razzle-dazzled and quirky dishes on the tour include porridge benedict with seared Scottish pigeon breast, an Italian inspired cannelloni porridge and porridge with whisky jelly, oatmeal cream and raspberry. But hopefully you’ll still be able to get a steaming bowl of unadulterated oats for breakfast.
