One Sunday

One Sunday

Standing in the windy avenue, upon a floating vessel,
A wave of indiscreet virtue, was that a bitter smile?
But we have spent our hard earned royalty to nestle,
In a squeeze between others that stretch for miles.

You stand dry whilst some of us sleep under the bridge.

Our thoughts are with an important man,
As he lies with cables and a coverage ban
Though some of us are not so skeptical,
We show this by sitting in a street to eat.
To share our thoughts and what makes us proud.

She must be tired of this public attention,

Forcing her gaze at every move,

But deep down I know she is kind and thankful

Just don’t mention the weather.
