Fungi Foray at Brockhampton Estate: Autumn highlights

So to the Funghi Foray. A wet few days had raised hopes that we would find some mushrooms – and maybe some that were edible. It was a rare autumn day with the sun shining and the local mushrooms were out in force. Some of the highlights are below, along with the variety that we thought they were. But remember to make your own investigations before eating any mushrooms. Some of the finds were edible, particularly the star find of the day, the hen of the woods. This usually grows at the base of oak trees and looks, as the name suggests, like a hen!
