Students: Win £1000 by designing a boat race poster @BNYMellonRace

Win £1000 and have your design on the cover of the official programme of next year’s BNY Mellon Boat Race! Your school or college will also win £250 of vouchers to spend on art materials.

BNY Mellon, Title Sponsors of The BNY Mellon Boat Race, is inviting students across the UK to design a poster for next year’s 160th Boat Race.

The competition is open to aspiring artists and designers who are aged 16 to 19. The designer of the winning poster will receive a cash prize of £1,000, and their school or college will receive vouchers to the value of £250 to be put towards supplies for their art or graphics department.

Entrants should design a poster to celebrate The 160th Boat Race; one of the world’s longest sporting rivalries in history when crews from Oxford University and Cambridge University race on the River Thames.

The winning poster will also be reproduced on the cover of the programme on race day, Sunday April 6, 2014. The winning student will attend The BNY Mellon Boat Race Gala Dinner in March, where he or she will be presented with the £1,000 cash prize.

The judging panel will comprise of Eileen Cooper RA, Keeper of the Royal Academy of Arts, Angus Montgomery, Editor of Design Week, The BNY Mellon Boat Race Ambassador Anna Watkins, gold medallist in the double sculls at the London Olympics 2012, and Jamie Brookes, BNY Mellon’s International Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs.
