To celebrate the Silverstone’s milestone 50th Grand Prix, fans are being encouraged to take part in a unique competition on ‘Vintage Dress Friday’ of this year’s FORMULA 1 SANTANDER BRITISH GRAND PRIX (04-06 July), where the overall winner will be awarded the exclusive prize of two Grid Passes for the Race on Sunday.

Fans who attend the Friday of the British Grand Prix this year can take part in the competition by dressing up in period clothing from the 40’s onwards, to include 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s, to celebrate each era that Silverstone has been hosting this legendary event.
The competition will officially open on Wednesday 18th June, after which point fans are encouraged to upload a photo of themselves in their ‘Vintage Dress Friday’ costume on twitter along with the hashtag ‘#Silverstone50’. This will post the photo to the new Silverstone50 website – which has been specially created for this year’s event to celebrate Silverstone’s 50th Grand Prix – at https://50.silverstone.co.uk. Photos can be uploaded from 18th June right up until noon on ‘Vintage Dress Friday’ on 04 July.
Twenty winners of the competition will be announced at 15:30 on ‘Vintage Dress Friday’ (04 July) via Silverstone’s social media channels and they will be invited to a drinks reception backstage of the main stage in the Entertainment Zone. From these 20, five finalists will be chosen, one from each decade (40s, 50s, 60s, 70s & 80s), to go through to the final judging for an overall winner. The five finalists will receive a pair of tickets for Silverstone Classic Hospitality, with one winner also winning the grand prize of two Grid Passes for the 2014 FORMULA 1 SANTANDER BRITISH GRAND PRIX on 06 July, which have been kindly donated by Bernie Ecclestone.
In celebration of Silverstone’s 50th Grand Prix and to support the launch of ‘Vintage Dress Friday’, 1994 British Grand Prix winner and 1996 Formula 1® World Champion Damon Hill kindly agreed to dress in retro 60’s clothing alongside his father Graham Hill’s beautiful Lotus 49B from 1969, which he drove to seventh place at that year’s British Grand Prix.
The 2014 FORMULA 1 SANTANDER BRITISH GRAND PRIX will be the 50th Grand Prix to be held at Silverstone since Luigi Villoresi won the first ever event on 02 October 1948, two years before the inauguration of the FIA Formula One World Championship in 1950.
Tickets for the 2014 FORMULA 1 SANTANDER BRITISH GRAND PRIX are available from £65pp and are on sale 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Visit www.silverstone.co.uk for more information.
