Saturday 1st October & Sunday 2nd October 2016 from 1-6pm each day
On the first weekend in October, for its 6th year, ArtWest opens its doors with six studio buildings and one private house presenting a fantastic array of creative disciplines. Artists and designers work in idiosyncratic ways most evident within their personal working space. To see this is both an opportunity as well as a privilege.
With over 45 studios to view, visitors are offered the chance to meet and talk to painters, sculptors, printmakers, ceramicists, textilemakers, furniture designers, glassmakers and video artists. Each year collectors buy works from participants and studio prices mean some excellent bargains are to be had.
A free Mini Bus service will run from Hythe Road to Harrow Road, making it easier to visit the different buildings. A convivial afternoon outing is provided for all. Local residents, and those who work in the area, may be interested to learn that in this interesting part of North West London, with its mix of light industrial and residential buildings, there is a hive of artistic creativity.
For this year’s Postcard Exhibition, ‘Regeneration’ is the theme. Anonymous original artworks, of postcard size, are available for sale at only £25 each. Money from sales goes towards next year’s Open Studios Weekend. Among the creations are many hidden gems that may turn out to be a great investment.
ArtWest seeks to work within its community and a number of workshops have been offered this year. Local schools benefited from interactive workshops in painting, printing and clay magnet making. Studio holders also give feedback to prisoners’ creative work for the Koestler Trust on a voluntary basis.
Come and join us in October and drench yourselves in cultural vibrancy! Art influences our lives with inspiration, investigation and explanation. This weekend is a must-see event that needs to be experienced.
