Hitomi is inspired by the natural beauty of plants and flowers, combining dramatic form and movement with sensitively refined details. Her captivating and intricate creations draw upon botanical shapes that she studies in her garden, and recollects from memories of nature during her childhood in Japan.

“It is a true honour to receive the Perrier-Jouët Arts Salon Prize,’ said Hitomi, ‘Which will allow me to engage with new and inspiring experiences, and enable me to pursue creative challenges within my craft.’ Rosy Greenlees, Executive Director of the Crafts Council and Chair of the Perrier-Jouët Arts Salon 2013 said, “We were faced with a challenging decision and exceptional talent within the shortlist of nominees, yet recognised Hitomi Hosono as an outstanding artist whose unique artworks truly evoke a contemporary and beautiful interpretation of Art Nouveau.’’

The winner will receive £10,000 cash, an exhibition and trips to Paris and Miami. Hitomi’s solo exhibition will launch to the public on 25 June 2013 in the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel’s Chambers Club and last until 4 August 2013.
