Album Review: Every Time I Die – Ex Lives

From its  hard hitting opening track of “Underwater Bimbo’s From Outer Space” to more subtle tracks such as “Revival Mode”, Every Time I Die’s latest release proves to be yet another gem for its followers. Its well placed lyrical balances, heavy riffs and conquering drum beats all combine to create a sound that is truly their own.

Reverting back to a style reflective of  their earlier work, Hot Damn, this well constructed album with have its listeners in awe from start until finish. Keith Buckley’s lyrics once again prove to be in a place of their own; though taking on a darker tone commonly found through most of his work, they nonetheless prove to be irresistible in the ears of the beholder. Guitarists Jordan Buckley and Andy Williams add to this effort with their riveting riffs even invoking the use of a banjo, to great success I might add, throughout the album’s length. Ryan ‘legs’ Leger’s drumming contributions prove to also be  an alluring aspect to this new album, hitting hard to turn tracks such as “I Suck Blood” into beastly beats that are sure to blow the listener away.

Overall the flow and feel alone of Ex Lives is sure to prove its worth and with the bonus tracks added the deluxe version goes a long way for its small additional fee. Once again Every Time I Die has released a masterpiece that only proves why this band has survived for so long in a genre they helped to forge within today’s music industry.
