My Bloody Valentine and Grimes added to @FlowFestival Line up

Ireland’s seminal shoegazers, My Bloody Valentine returned after a 22 year hiatus this February with their album m v b, and will now perform for the first time ever in Finland at Flow Festival. Their previous record, 1991’s Loveless, has become one of the most highly praised, undeniable classics in its genre and they continue to win over fans, old and new, across the globe.

One of music’s genuine sensations, Grimes will bring her dreamlike world to Flow this August. Emerging in 2012 as one of the world’s most exciting and mysterious female electronic artists.

Flow takes place in Finland in August and has become synonymous with bringing music from old school legends to topical newcomers, Scandinavia’s finest and a whole host of international talent. This year is no exception as artists such as the legendary Kraftwerk, elusive Swedish duo The Knife and Kendrick Lamar will play alongside the likes of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Bat For Lashes, Hudson Mohawke, Julia Holter, AlunaGeorge, Disclosure, Beach House, Haim, Solange, Mykki Blanco, K-X-P, Todd Terje, Maya Jayne Coles, afro beat hero Ebo Taylor, Karenn (Blawan & Pariah), Azealia Banks, Finnish electro outfit Sarah Kivi & Non Orchestra and Rough Trade’s favourite Swedes, Goat – with even more acts still to be announced.

Returning to the historic Suvilahti which is only a short walk away from the centre of Helsinki, the festival strikes an alluring setting for a few days of blissed-out festival escapism. Held in the shadows of a disused power station built at the turn of the century, the looming location is one of Helsinki’s most monumental architectural sites. Embracing its penchant for urban spaces and modern art, Flow’s venue sets it aside as one of the most exciting and innovative festivals of the summer.

Beyond the music, Flow offers a warm embrace of the arts, offering art displays from Scandinavia and abroad as well as showcasing art house film, cinema, lectures and an exceptional array of world spanning cuisine.

This year marks Flow’s landmark tenth year anniversary and is the perfect destination for adventurous festival-goers in search of something a little different.
