Experience Wakefield’s alternative night out on 31st July. Every other month, venues across Wakefield come alive with a variety of visual arts and crafts, live music, and performances. Slip on some comfy shoes and enjoy the art whilst you explore the city.
This July two new venues will be joining the Artwalk. Architecture 1B in Victoria Chambers, will be throwing open the doors of their historic listed building to show the work of Craig Lovelock and Robin Goodall. Robin Goodall is part of the Dewsbury based artist collective Corner 185. He will be showing his photographic project ‘Dial M for Market’ documenting Wakefield Market. Craig Lovelock is a Leeds based painter. Iris Restaurant will also be joining the Artwalk for the first time with the work of Wakefield based artist Francine Cross.
Other highlights include an exhibition of exquisite flapper dresses from the 1920s at Wakefield Museum in Wakefield One. Create Cafe, also at Wakefield One, will be serving Mocktails to celebrate the roaring twenties theme.
At The Art House on Drury Lane, there will be a chance to see their annual Members’ Open exhibition with the work of over 50 artists working in a wide range of media, from painting and sculpture, to video, textiles and ceramics.
