Alexander Kramarenko at the Russian embassy in London today received a petition demanding the release of Kieron Bryan, the video journalist who was arrested whilst reporting from the Greenpeace boat Arctic Sunrise. A silent protest is also taking place outside the embassy. Protestors wearing stickers over their mouths have gathered on Bayswater Road to show support for the freelance journalist.
Originally Bryan was charged with piracy, but this has since been changed to hooliganism for which he is facing up to seven years in prison.
